New York Yankees Baseball Games Live Online
Can the Bronx Bombers Score Big in 2011? What expectations do fans have when they watch the New York Yankees online this season? Jim Leyland, the Detroit Tigers manager, referred to the Yankee lineup as Murdererís Tow plus Cano. Quite fitting considering the Pinstripersí infield is peopled by perennial stars Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter and Mark Teixeria...and then throw in Robinson Cano. Who, by the way, hit .320 in 2010. He should repeat this while contributing 20 four-baggers to the mix. Rodriguez and Teixeria should combine for HRs north of 65 while expecting a contribution or 225 RBIs should be quite reasonable.
Donít expect Jeter to repeat his .270 2010 batting effort. He is much better than that. He should, however, top .290. After all, he has a lifetime average of .313 and has that traditional Yankee pride, as team captain, that never quits. In fact, that never quit attitude is evident as long-time Yankee favourite, Jorge Posada, gets a well-deserved-knee resting switch to full time DH since the veteran still can hit. Expect Posada to make more than 450 plate appearances where he certainly can ding at least 20 over-the-wall scorers.
The vaunted New York outfield of Nick Swisher, Curtis Granderson and Brett Gardner return. Swisher is already a great fan favourite and brings a great deal of discipline to power hitting. Granderson brings power and speed to the plate, but Gardner should be the teamís No. 1 base stealer. Expect Gardner to nab at least 50 stolen bases while having a legitimate shot at being a .400 hitter.
Russell Martin takes over FT catcher duties for a rotation that might be a little suspect. However, the Yankees still have the services of the great Mariano Rivera to close out winning games.
